The Mystery of Death by Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud… “* In the moment of love, something in us opens up, not the body, but something more. The entire gate of reality opens wide, and the beautiful truths, meanings, and feelings contained in the two lovers come into contact. Harmony occurs from this contact between ideas, meanings, and delicate feelings.
In a moment, the two imagine that they are one.
The last mask of reality falls, and the selfishness that separates them melts away, and they become one interest and one idea.
But it is a fleeting moment, because the impudent reality descends again between the two lovers, and the concern returns to isolate them from each other. They are the time, the hour that has come, the appointment that has ended, and the time that obligated each of them to return to his work. They are the place that isolates them, each in a country.
They are the body that contains each of them in an independent entity of flesh and blood. They are the society that contains the two and demands obligations and duties from them. They are the past that enters as a heavy partner at every moment.
We do not live alone, but there are others, and they are all fighting for our freedom, our livelihood, and our lives. In this crowd we get lost and reality obscures our dreams and takes us with it in a vortex of ridiculous repetition of eating, drinking and sleeping from which we do not wake up except to disappear into it again and our lives go on in a boring routine in which we never meet ourselves nor taste love nor know it. Lust is something other than love, it is much less than love, it is the desire of the species and not the desire of the individual, it is a relationship between two natures and not a relationship between two people, a relationship between masculinity and femininity. The individual does not reveal himself in it, but he reveals his type and masculinity, and love does not contain lust, but lust does not contain it. With love, you do not only reveal that you are male, but you also reveal that you are so-and-so and that you chose so-and-so in particular and cannot replace her with another.
The word “I love you” is the deepest and most beautiful word in a man’s life because it is not just a word, but a window through which he looks out onto his truth and secret.
And the love that is deeper than all love is only exploded in the heart by Sufism and religious feeling.
Because religion is what returns man to the spring from which he emerged and takes man, fallen in time and place, to raise him to the heavens of eternity. Nothing raises him to these heavens except love, which makes the worshipper lose himself and the world out of longing for his Creator.
